Along A Sand Road

Sunday morning a good time to ease on over to the Island and make my way to Jungle Trail. Get some sand worked into that new chain. Wear it out faster. Sigh.

Traffic now down to a small fraction of what it had been, as so many have left us for points in New York, Michigan, Vermont. Etc. Transition to Summer In The Tropics will be soon, and it will be sudden.

I don't mind the bridge climb. About all the hill there is in Vero. I sure as schmidt do dislike the noise of car tires on rain grooves. And I am slightly concerned about how much attention is being given to driving by many people behind the steering wheel of a car.

Pile O Pics

Who knew finding a camera card would be so damn difficult in Vero Beach. Yeah, finally, Staples b/c I wasn't much mood to drive to Walmart and back. A 16 GB for too much $, when a 4 or 8 would hold all the damn pictures I'm likely to take at one time. Says guy who used to rewind and change film every 36 pics. High speed you say? Yeah, right.

Neighborhood group had a breakfast carry-in event. Men were poorly represented. I took a snap or two of Ellen while the various gathered structured the event.

Sansevieria took a hit during last year's hurricane. Ellen is thinning it. - I might buy a set of extension tubes. Hmmn.

I have no idea what Jakeria had to do to die out here. Sand road to Gifford Dock. Probably I don't want to know. Certainly I don't need to. - I hadn't seen this shrine before.

And, continuing to get a sense for the ffl lens. This f/8 and about 4 feet. I'm not persuaded that Lumix couldn't have done better. - The dot is a little goober inside the camera. Gone now.

Beginning With Cassette & Chain

First thing, a new chain. SRAM this time, and it's a ton beefier than the KMC I'd run for not a whole lot of miles. Lots of sand in my rides, so no telling if the heavier chain is going to make any difference.

Aric Attas spoke about his work at Raw Space gallery on Thursday night. At which event he mentioned Ellen's article in Vero Beach 32963 as being thoughtful and well written. And that the article seemed to be a factor in the interest people have shown in his work.

He's sold six pieces as a group to one purchaser.

Ellen covers events at Raw Space fairly often. It's a gallery that takes risks. Aric a local, often artists from Miami, Cuba, or other places both near and far. Neli Santamarina, here introducing Aric makes the gallery space available in a strip mall she owns on Old Dixie Highway.

And a snapshot or two. Link to the article. Then a Florida sky we saw on our way home.

Hazy Afternoon & Various Recent Snapshots

Smoke in the air, and evening sun. We wrapped up our day by taking Lili to the nearby dog park.

Pumps back in service at the Wilcox area.

Meander south of town. No particular place to go . . .

A Collection That Doesn't Fit Anywhere Else

And in the category of I have a 20mm normal that I'm messing with. - I continue to be taken by smaller digital film that produces a high-quality image. Tonally rich and with expected color rendition. The peculiar aspect of which, the color, is that I began to see color differently as I began to use this camera (a Panasonic Lumix). I'd been abbreviating my color perception, perhaps because I'd been taking pictures with cameras that took shortcuts.

Way long ago I worked with "photo-finishing," and I was surprised when awful color looked "real good" to the amateur photographer. Then I estimated that compared to the other color standard, color television, it probably did. Without a cue, people were not seeing the color all around all day and every day.
